Question #1:

how hard is it to find a job as a golf club repair specialist?

i am a freshman at THE Ohio State University, majoring in Professional Golf Management. its a 4 year bachelors program designed to train us to be head golf pros and to get to be members of the PGA. but i dont want to be a head golf pro. i want to specialize in golf club repair and design. does anyone knowledgeable know where i could get a job doing this after i graduate and do you know if it would be a difficult area to get into? please tell any experience you have backing your answer. thanks.

Question #2:

My wife and best friend.....?

seemed to be a little over friendly. So I did some detective work. Instead of going to work, I hid in the garage, behind a tool box with my golf clubs on top, and lay in wait. Sure enough, he came round, tapped on the window, and she opened the front door wearing the tiniest baby doll outfit I've ever seen! She kissed him on the cheek, took his hand and dragged him in. It was at that moment that I noticed a split in the shaft of my Putting Iron. Can I repair this, or should I just buy a new one? I'm Club Captain and it looks a little unprofessional, don't you think?

Question #4:

My wife and my best friend seem very close.?

I was becoming suspicious that something funny was going on, so I decided to do some detective work. I booked a days holiday from work, and decided to hide in the garage and wait. Sure enough, my best friend came to the house. I hid myself in a corner of the garage, behind my golf clubs, and watched her pull him into the house. I then noticed that my seven iron was slightly bent, near the top of the handle. Can this be repaired? Or do I need to buy a new seven iron? I'm not sure I can afford a new one.

Question #5:

Help with low driver ball flight?

Really Low Driver Flight... LOW DRIVES!

I took a swing evaluation at GolfTec a few weeks ago and it pretty much cured the dreaded nasty 60-75yrd hook I've been dealing with for months. Everything from 3w-LW is going straight. I am now hinging properly, better balance and address is perfect. I'm hitting with confidence.....

......BUT now my driver is going so low I am hitting ground balls to the second baseman and shortstop. Drives are traveling about 5-7 feet above ground and descends after about 30yrds and roll another 30-40 yards. I have moved the ball further and closer at address. Also, I have tried everything from 3.5 inches to an inch and once I experimented off the deck. I have even borrowed a buddy's 12* K15 with no results. I have searched this forum and tried the tricks and techniques with secondary objects and such.

I have even slowed down my swing to about 70mph from 92mph. ALL my driver shots are low. I need somebody to see what I can do to repair this.

I have also tried the technique from School of Golf a few weeks ago with just moving the body and guiding the club with no hinge.

Prior to the lessons I was hitting about 230-250 range with the hook.

Thank goodness I was never really a great driver and can use my strong 3W but that will only get me so far.

Thanks!

Question #6:

how to convince my parents to let me get an iphone?

so ive wanted one for awhile but on the list of things i needed, it was at the bottom. in the beginning of the year i made a list of things that i either wanted or needed. the list was;
1. Driver- need (old one sweet spot was too small)
2. putter- need (old one had too soft of a face)
3. irons- need (old ones were too low quality for my level)
4. bag- want (old one was decent condition but it was a 4 year old golf bag)
5. lessons- need (kept hitting the ball fat)
6. new lax stick- need (old one was 6 years old and dented and bent beyond repair)
7. lax helmet- need (old one wasn't school colors)
8. golf clothes- want
9. iphone 4- want (nobody truely needs an iphone. theyre just nice to have)

based off this list its not like im some 16 year old kid who sits at home playing video games all day. im constantly out doing somthing or when i am home im working out. im mature for my age and i get pretty good marks (3 As, 3 Bs, and a C-74 in geometry. i should have tried alot harder in math). on top of that im in student government, several clubs, work, and volunteer.

I have enough money for it but the problem is convincing my parents. i have a great relationship with my mom and dad but the only problem they saw with it was the internet. they said they dont like kids having internet on their phones because its unmonitored. they trust me and know i wouldnt do anything sneaky but whats the best way to give them reassurance in that? anything i should say, do?
well trust me i bought my sports equipment first. sports will and always will come before a phone. i did add the yearly cost into the equation. i wouldnt leave my parents out to dry.

and my current phone the screen is starting to lose its touch sensitivity so a new phone would certainly help. its probably not the most cost efficient phone but it comes down to its just somthing that i want. i work for alot that i have. i dont ask mommy and daddy for money to help me out.

Question #10:

how to find a better job with my skills?

I have back problems, so my current job being a hand-packer is killing me right now, so I need to start looking for something better, besides where I work it is unbelievably hot and dusty, which I cannot stand either. right now I do 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. that part I love, since I can do what I want during the day since I go to bed at 1p.m. and I wake up for 3-4 p.m. one week I work monday, tuesday, friday, saturday and sunday and the next I work wednesday and thursday, but our weeks start on saturdays so we get 4 days one week and 3 the next. I can adapt to any situation and I am good with dealing with people, but not kids, I just find them too irritating. I have my high school diploma and my forklift safety training, although I never once even touched a forklift, I just took it to help me get a job. I also have problems with my hands so it can't be anything too physical and I can't type very fast. I used to do maintenance/cleaning at a sports facility since 2007 (and I still work there on occasion) and storage in a golf course, cleaning power carts and golf clubs, helping golfers get ready for the round and putting some of them away, as well as helping them after there round of golf. apart from that I just have production line stacking palettes with tissue paper. I am willing to start low, since I don't do much above minimum wage, 65 cents to be exact, so even if it was to go down to minimum wage, it is not a problem. I also cannot do much else, but I do enjoy doing computer repairs by myself, but I checked at the college and I do not have my necessary classes to apply there yet. I will not quit my job without having something else though, but our town was not too affected by the economy, since we are very isolated and independent, so we do not have too much to worry about. any help is appreciated, thanks

Question #11:

where could I work, I need something else, not work from home jobs though?

I have a high school diploma and a forklift safety classroom instruction certificate. I have worked at a golf course cleaning golf clubs, power carts, preparing range buckets and getting golfers ready for there game and assisting them after the game to put there clubs away. I also have cleaning and light repairs, preparing equipment and fields for certain sports at a local sports facility. I am now working in a warehouse as a hand packer, although I am only meant to be there as a temporary. I got laid off from the golf course after I asked for more than 3 hours a day, and since management changed it is totally run differently now, I was there for 14 hours a day before and we had one person to go to for any problem, then it became whoever was the highest in rank over there and she hated me since I had more hours than anybody in the history of the golf course, so she cut my hours back to 3 a day. I was there for about 6 weeks in 2009 and I was there for late april to early june 2010. I am still employed at the sports facility, but I am an on-call worker, so I work maybe once every 6 weeks plus special events and I have been there since 2007 (I got the golf course and sports facility job because of my dad). I recently started in a warehouse, but I can't get used to working 2 day shifts, 2 days off, 2 night shifts, 3 days off, for 12 hours a day, in 130 degree heat with no breaks, no liquid allowed and no food in the stomach. I just got fed up and started thinking of another job when my boss asked me to work friday night, saturday during the day and saturday night, which would be a 36 hours in a row, I think that is unreasonable. true I am getting 48 hours a week and making 40 cents above minimum wage, but I am really unhappy about my job. I am wondering if there is any job I could do that would be a bit easier, and maybe a bit less hard on the body, because I do have weakness in my legs, back and shoulders, and I do have depression too. I also have a mild allergy to dust, so I sneeze every 15-20 minutes at work and its annoying. I don't have to worry about rent, all I have to worry about is my cell phone, my car and my food, which runs at about 250$ a month altogether, and minimum wage is 9$ an hour, soon to go to 9,50$ an hour and up to 10$ an hour. I know I pull in like 425$ after taxes, but I just got in because I needed a job, now I just wish I could start in a store somewhere, but I can't seem to find any that are hiring. I prefer the night shift, but I can adapt to the day shift too. I can do repetitive tasks, I can work long hours, as long as I have a 30 minute break every few hours and I don't mind working with people, although I am not the best people person around, I can adapt to it. I live in new-brunswick, Canada and I would rather not work for friends and family, so it can be a bit tricky finding work, but list me any ideas. I also love working with animals and just watching how they behave all day, if it helps (although no pet stores are hiring and we do not have a zoo in the area anymore, they moved like an hour and a half away)

Question #12:

what type of job should I get?

I have a high school diploma and a forklift safety classroom instruction certificate. Question #13:

help with deciding a career?

I am a 2009 graduate but I needed to go on the job market, I needed to make money and see where that took me, but I found out how hard it is to actually find half-decent employment with only high school. so I looked at my options
I have a fear of heights, so naturally next to any construction job is out of the question
I don't have my second semester of 11th grade math, so university is out of the question, as well as many college classes
I cannot close my right hand for a reason that cannot be known so anything requiring lots of gripping is out of the question
I actually am pretty good when it comes to fixing technical problems with computers, but again lots of math is required which I don't have. I was good at cleaning, but it required too much handling so I just couldn't keep it up, my hands were killing me. I only had 3 jobs in my life, 1 at a golf course, where I would clean the golf clubs, power carts and get the golfers ready for there day, including preparing range ball buckets. I work at a sports facility on-call since 2007 doing cleaning, some minor repairs and working at special events. both those jobs were only because my dad worked there, if it wasn't for him, I never would of gotten the jobs. And I currently work in a warehouse, for irving tissue, 12 hours a day, 4 days a week, making 40 cents above minimum wage, as a hand packer getting the palettes ready for the forklifts, I work 2 day shifts, 2 days off, 2 night shifts, 3 days off. I wanted to be a forklift driver or something to do with animals when I was younger, but since I started getting weakness in my legs and my hand problem that was out of the question. I just need to know what my options are. I actually prefer the night shift because I have the day to do what I want to do, but I can adapt to the day shift too, as I have done before. I don't get much more than 2-4 hours of sleep a day, and it is not combined sleep. I can do 12 hours shifts, but the problem where I work is we get no breaks at all, all we get is a chance to sit down for a minute when a machine breaks down, and that's if the manager doesn't see us. I would just like to know all my options before embarking on anything else, I don't mind starting part-time or at minimum wage. list anything I could do, its just you need to stay with my company for 6 years before going up any further than a hand-packer, and the chances are small at that, and even people who have been there for 10+ years still don't even make 12$ an hour, minimum wage is 9$ an hour soon to go to 9,50$ an hour and up to 10$ an hour in september. I make 9,40$ an hour times 48 hours a week, no over-time since they take away an hour and a half a day for breaks even though we don't get them. so we only get 42 hours a week. yes I am miserable and I am only 22, I just needed to get money since my dad never started a trust fund for me when I was younger and my mom would smoke and drink every penny she could, even buy drugs at times. just list me some options, and yes I do like working with things and I am not a people person, but I can adapt to next to anything

Question #14:

how to get a half decent career with only a high school diploma?

I have a high school diploma, and I took classroom instruction only forklift safety just to add something to my resume. I used to work at a golf course picking up golfers golf bag, cleaning golf clubs and power carts, I also work at a sports facility on call doing cleaning, minor repairs and working special events. I recently started at a warehouse owned by irving, but I hate it so far since the minor workers (those that don't have the green shirts) have a hard time doing the hand packing and the managers (green shirts) keep sending people home even though we need help doing some of the packing. I just need something half decent that I could do, I know I stuck around more than the average person since the average worker stays for 3 days and I am going on day 5 friday night (I also rotate between day and night shifts, I do 2 days, 2 days off, 2 nights, 3 days off) and when I asked for the same shift, they said they could make it happen, but I would only work 2 days a week, which I cannot afford. I work 48 hours a week (12 hours a day) and I make 9,40$/hour (minimum wage is 9$/hour) and I will stay at 40 cents above minimum wage whenever it goes up. I knew it would only be temporary when I got in, but I am not sure I can handle the long shifts with no sick days, no breaks, no nothing except work right through the 12 hours, I want something a bit better than hand packing for a life
and no there is no way of getting promoted or anything unless you stay there for at least 6 years

Question #15:

Does breaking a window lower GDP or keep it the same?

Classic example:
A hoodlum throws a brick through a shopkeeper's window and it will cost the shopkeeper €250 to replace it, money he otherwise would have used to buy a set of golf clubs. What does the overall situation - the shopkeeper not able to spend €250 on the golf clubs and the glass shop earning €250 for repairing the damage - do to GDP?

I could argue that GDP remains the same as an extra window is produced, but less golf clubs. Or is the value of the smashed window subtracted from GDP, so that breaking + repairing does nothing and that the entire situation lowers GDP because of the golf clubs society misses out on?

Question #16:

Turn golf club making hobby in part time business?

I make golf clubs, make repairs, do re-gripping for my golf buddies as a hobby in my workshop. I looking for advice to turn this into a part time income supplement.
With the Internet as a fantastic tool how could I use it to promo myself to golf enthusiast in my local area ? There is a saying I believe 100% - Do what you truly love and the money will follow .I really enjoy making clubs. Any idea's are welcome

Question #17:

Golf Club Driver Replacement Question?

Hello, I purchased a King Cobra S9-1 F Speed Driver around last Christmas, and about 2 months ago the club head unexpectedly came off of the shaft, after swinging it at the driving range. I didn't do anything wrong with the club, this incident just unfortanately occured.

I called the Cobra company and they told me to bring the club to the retailer where I bought it (Dick's Sporting Goods), and that it would be dealt with from there. Now, 2 months later, a repaired club has been returned to Dick's, and I just picked it up earlier this evening. But the club is not the same as it had been when I purchased it. The same club head and grip are present, yet they have replaced the 55g Cobra shaft with a 65g stiff Fujikura shaft. This new shaft looks sort of cheap, and it is also heavier than the original one.

I am just worried that I may have been cheated on the club that I originally purchased, seeing how the damage was accidental, and the club was still covered under warranty. I also worry because I really liked my old driver, and I wonder that this heavier shaft may make a large impact on the way I hit the club.

So I guess my question is, "Is it standard for the company to give me a different shaft on the club, or do I deserve a replacement club that matches the original one I purchased?"
Thank you both for your well-explained answers regarding the situation. I now realize that I have gotten an actual better shaft than before, but the shaft does say stiff flex on it. Will this make a noticable difference, or will it be unnoticeable?

Question #18:

How do you repair a golf club when the head seperate's from the shaft?

Question #19:

What's the name of this foreign film?

I saw this fabulous film a few years ago. I don't even know why I started thinking about it now, but it's popped into my head and it's bugging me that I can't remember the name. I believe it was Japanese, I think it was in the 2000s. I remember quite a bit!

It's about this young man who breaks into people's home and lives there for a time, cleaning the homes and making repairs on anything he finds broken (clocks and such), before moving on. He ends up living in a home of a husband and wife; it's an unhappy marriage, arranged, I think. He falls in love with the wife and, while the husband is away, he watches the wife and helps her around the house without her ever seeing him. She senses he's there, however, and tricks him one day and she actually meets him. When her husband comes home, I think he beats up both of them until the man gets one of the husbands golf clubs and hits him over the head.

The man and the woman live together and live the nomad life for a short time together. One of the ways they did this was by placing flyers door-to-door in a neighborhood one day, then returning the next day and going into the home where the flyers were untouched. They are eventually found and arrested when the children of an elderly man find them in their father's home. The police find the father's body, who the man and woman had found dead in his home and buried in a respectful and traditional ceremony. The woman is returned to her husband, who promises he has changed, and the man goes to jail. Eventually, he escapes and goes back to the woman, living in her home behind her husband's back but in her plain sight. Something about a martial arts moves and shadowing or something.

It really was a great movie and I'd love to finally find it and buy it...if I could only remember the name!

Question #20:

Head of golf driver keeps flying off. Time to scrap it?

A friend gave me a used Ping driver last year, and on my 10th swing with it, the head of the club flew off into the range. The shaft was cracked at the bottom, so over the winter I had it re-shafted with a mid-grade shaft. My first time at the range this year, the head flew off again; this time the glue had merely failed with no damage to the shaft. I took it back to the golf store, where they re-glued it for free. I let it sit for a couple weeks, then took it out to the course this past weekend. While warming up at the range, the head flew off yet again on only my second swing. I've heard so much about how difficult it is to break a club, even if you occasionally clip the ground in your swing, yet I've apparently gotten pretty good at it.

Should I just scrap this driver and get a new one, or is this an issue of repeatedly poor repair jobs? I'm very reluctant to hit the driver anymore, and I don't have the same problems with my 3 and 5 woods.
